Do you like reading?
Exemplo: I don't enjoy reading very much because I find long texts tedious and time-consuming. Instead, I prefer watching movies or playing video games to relax, as they feel more engaging and entertaining.
Do you prefer to read on paper or on a screen?
建议:1) 用一到两句概括理由(portable, convenient),然后用具体例子支撑;2) 修正语法和词序(e.g. "I have to go to the library to borrow a book and carry it in my bag, which is heavy");3) 避免填充词并用连接词(for example, whereas)。
Exemplo: I prefer reading on a screen because it is more portable and convenient. For example, borrowing a physical book means I have to carry it in my bag, which can be heavy, whereas I can simply open an app on my phone to read instantly.
When do you need to read carefully, and when not?
建议:1) 用完整的主句说明情况(e.g. "I need to read carefully when...");2) 提供具体对比并用连接词(so, whereas);3) 避免口头语并补全未完成的句子。
Exemplo: I need to read carefully when I'm doing assignments because I must find reliable references and understand journal articles in detail. On the other hand, I skim newspapers or simple web articles when I only want a quick overview.
Do you prefer scanning or detailed reading?
Exemplo: It depends on the situation. For example, when I'm ordering at a café I usually scan the menu for keywords like the drink name and price. However, when I'm studying instructions or academic texts I read in detail to fully understand them.
× Actually I don't like reading because I think it is really boring and even almost wasting my time.
✓ Actually I don't like reading because I think it is really boring and even almost a waste of my time.
原句中用法不当:'wasting my time' 在这里应使用名词短语 'a waste of my time' 来表示“浪费我的时间”。
× I prefer to watch a movie or like play games instead of reading to kill my time.
✓ I prefer to watch a movie or play games instead of reading to kill time.
原句中 'or like play games' 结构混乱,'like' 在此处不应出现;'kill my time' 常用表达是 'kill time'。
× I'd like to read on the screen because that's really portable and convenient.
✓ I'd like to read on a screen because that's really portable and convenient.
此处更自然的表达是 'on a screen' 或 'on screens' 而不是 'on the screen'(后者指特定屏幕)。
× For example, for the physical book, I need to go to the library to pick up a suitable 1, then put into my bag it's.
✓ For example, for a physical book, I need to go to the library to pick up a suitable one, then put it into my bag.
原句有多处错误:'the physical book' 应为不定泛指 'a physical book';数字 '1' 应为代词 'one' 表示一个;'put into my bag it's' 语序和代词错误,应为 'put it into my bag'。
× It'll take a lot of space and even really heavy.
✓ It takes up a lot of space and can even be really heavy.
原句时态和结构混乱:'It'll'(将会)与上下文不符,且 'take a lot of space' 更常用被动或短语 'take up a lot of space';'even really heavy' 缺少系动词,需改为 'can even be really heavy'。
× But the screen book I just opened my mobile phone then open the app.
✓ But for a book on a screen I just open my mobile phone and then open the app.
原句缺少介词和正确的动词时态:'the screen book' 应改为 'a book on a screen' 或 'an e-book';句子应为一般现在时 'I just open' 并用连词 'and then' 表示先后动作。
× Actually when I doing my assignment, I have to find some references to support my topic.
✓ Actually when I'm doing my assignment, I have to find some references to support my topic.
× So in this process I have to read like the journal article or the other literature clearly.
✓ So in this process I have to read journal articles or other literature carefully.
原句中 'read like the journal article' 中的 'like' 使用不当,应直接列举名词;'the journal article' 应为复数 'journal articles' 或泛指;副词 'clearly' 用于表示理解应改为 'carefully' 更合适。
× But if I just umm view some like a newspaper.
✓ But if I'm just viewing something like a newspaper, I don't read carefully.
× It depends on which situation.
✓ It depends on the situation.
'which situation' 在此不自然,通常说法为 'depends on the situation' 或 'depends on the specific situation'。
× Like when I just ordering something like a cafe, I just scanning the manual to catch a keyword such as the name of of the beverage and the price, even the size that's enough.
✓ For example, when I'm just ordering something at a café, I just scan the menu to catch keywords such as the name of the beverage, the price, and the size; that's enough.
原句时态和词汇错误较多:'when I just ordering' 应为进行时 'when I'm just ordering';'like a cafe' 应为 'at a café'(地点介词);'scanning the manual' 错用单词,点餐应用 'scan the menu';'name of of' 重复;'catch a keyword' 改为复数 'keywords' 更合适;结尾需用完整分句 'that's enough'。
× But if I was reading the uh, illustration, I need to tell.
✓ But if I was reading the illustration, I would need to understand it.
原句时态和虚拟语气使用不当:在假设或说明情况下,'if I was' 后应与 'would' 等条件句结构连用;'need to tell' 不清楚,改为 'would need to understand it' 更符合语境。
