Part 1

考官

Are you good at giving gifts?

考生

I believe gift giving is quite an amazing characteristic that I have. I will put a lot of thought into giving the gifts. I look at the personality of the person who would be receiving the gift and how they would perceive the gift I've given them. So this is definitely one of my strong skills. Most people come to me for help.

考官

When do you usually give gifts to others?

考生

The more common occasions when most people receive gifts is birthdays. However, for me, I don't think there has to be a particular date which I have to wait till to give that special someone a gift. I do feel whenever I'm feeling quite nice and I'm feeling happy, my feelings are quite positive. That's when I bring gifts for people on.

考官

What do you consider when choosing a gift?

考生

As previously mentioned, I consider the personality of the person who's receiving the gift and the way their reaction would be when they have received that particular gift. I do feel the person you are giving the gift should be appreciative of your efforts, however, you still have to keep a positive outlook because gift is about.

考官

Have you ever given others a handmade gift?

考生

Quite often actually, I when I was younger, I used to make the handmade cards with the sketches of the gift receiver drawn in my card. So quite often I used to make handmade gifts. I used to make those handmade hats for birthdays with which had jewels attached on it. So that's one thing.

考官

Do expensive gifts better express your feelings?

考生

I firmly disagree with this question because. I don't feel gifts can be given a monetary value or how the gift giver, gift giver, and the gift receiver would feel is definitely not correlating to the expense one has spent on the gift. So I do not agree. I believe handmade gifts are just as great.

文法

Verb + -ing form

× I believe gift giving is quite an amazing characteristic that I have.

I believe gift-giving is quite an amazing characteristic that I have.

The term 'gift giving' should be hyphenated to form a compound noun 'gift-giving' when used as a noun phrase. This clarifies that it is a single concept rather than a verb phrase.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× That's when I bring gifts for people on.

That's when I bring gifts for people.

The preposition 'on' at the end of the sentence is unnecessary and incorrect in this context. Removing it makes the sentence grammatically correct and clearer.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× I do feel the person you are giving the gift should be appreciative of your efforts, however, you still have to keep a positive outlook because gift is about.

I do feel the person you are giving the gift to should be appreciative of your efforts; however, you still have to keep a positive outlook because gift-giving is about thoughtfulness.

The sentence is missing the preposition 'to' after 'giving the gift' to correctly link the verb to its object. Also, the sentence is incomplete and lacks clarity; adding 'gift-giving is about thoughtfulness' completes the thought. Additionally, 'gift' should be 'gift-giving' as a noun.

Past tense issue

× Quite often actually, I when I was younger, I used to make the handmade cards with the sketches of the gift receiver drawn in my card.

Quite often actually, when I was younger, I used to make handmade cards with sketches of the gift receiver drawn on my cards.

The phrase 'I when I was younger' contains an unnecessary 'I'. Also, 'the handmade cards' should be 'handmade cards' without 'the' for general reference. 'Drawn in my card' should be 'drawn on my cards' to correctly describe the location of the sketches.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I used to make those handmade hats for birthdays with which had jewels attached on it.

I used to make those handmade hats for birthdays which had jewels attached to them.

The phrase 'with which had jewels attached on it' is awkward and incorrect. It should be 'which had jewels attached to them' to correctly use the relative pronoun and preposition, and to agree in number with 'hats'.

Sentence structure errors

× I firmly disagree with this question because.

I firmly disagree with this question because I believe gifts cannot be given a monetary value.

The sentence ends abruptly and is incomplete. Adding a reason after 'because' completes the sentence and clarifies the speaker's opinion.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× I don't feel gifts can be given a monetary value or how the gift giver, gift giver, and the gift receiver would feel is definitely not correlating to the expense one has spent on the gift.

I don't feel gifts can be given a monetary value, and how the gift giver and the gift receiver feel definitely does not correlate with the amount spent on the gift.

The sentence repeats 'gift giver' unnecessarily and has awkward phrasing. Correcting the pronoun usage and verb agreement improves clarity and grammatical correctness.
